Discovering Ashland Oregon

Discover Ashland Oregon

Adam and I have had a busy season to date. It would seem that our Theatre has come back “to life with a bang”.

I have only managed to see two of the plays to date – one being OSF’s Jitney by August Wilson and the other OSF’s Fat Ham. Both were exceptional and while Jitney was thought provoking Fat Ham made me leave with a smile on my face at the unexpected ending. I loved them both – so very different but such great theatre. I have tickets for As You Like itQuixote Nuevo and Shane. My guests have been raving about them. I also managed to see Doubt a Parable and a reading of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof up at Grizzly Peak Winery’s smaller Rogue Theatre Company. Both were exceptional. We are definitely spoilt with Theatre Culture as well as so much more in this small town of ours – Ashland Oregon.

Of course our wineries call out to us often. If we cannot enjoy a musical night out at one

of our local wineries you can often catch Adam and I taking in the sunset over the mountains in the far distance. Obviously partaking in of a glass or two of our favorite Rogue Valley Wines under the plum tree of Abigail’s Bed and Breakfasts’ front garden.

After ten years of working this BnB Adam and I finally managed to hike Lower Table Rock this past spring! Oh my – what a hike it was! Seven miles in total. Uphill climbing and then downhill coming down. Eeish … I have to say it was well worth the view and the walk through the incredible fields of Spring Flowers was awesome. Five hours later I was feeling good, exhausted, sore toes but exhilarated at our achievement.

Quick Recipe Time for this season’s favorite Gluten Free Italian Almond Cake given to me by a very special lady Giuliano – a once upon a time neighbor!

Take One and a quarter cup of fine sugar, add 6 whole eggs. Beat till thick, creamy and very pale.

Into a bowl place two cups of Almond Flour, add a pinch of salt and half teaspoon of almond essence.

Add the thick creamy egg and sugar mixture to the almond flour and fold in gently until the almond flour has been incorporated into the egg/sugar mix.

Lightly grease a pie dish and pour the mixture into the dish.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes or until lightly golden brown and no wobbles.

Serve with Raspberries and Vanilla Yogurt Ice Cream.

Yum….

Come and enjoy the remainder of your summer with us!
