Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Oregon Cabaret Theatre News!

According to an article from the Ashland Community Connection by Jim Flint, the season is going to be “rich with Shakespeare as OSF continues its project of completing the Canon in a Decade.”

This will be the 85th year of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and it will be under the new Artistic Directorship of Nataki Garrett. Having seen her production of “How to Catch a Creation” I have great hopes of it being a good year for our OSF 2020 Festival.

On a high note it appears that some of the “most beloved performers from OSF’s history” will be returning to our stage. One well known actor will be Michael Hume who with others will be featured alongside some of the newcomers to the Ashland, Oregon

stage. I am looking forward to seeing “The Copper Children” by Karen Zacarias, writer of “Destiny of Desire” which was a firm favorite of 2018. The story will be based upon the history of “orphan trains” that transported immigrant children, mostly Irish, to new homes in the west.

A reminder to our visitors to Ashland, Oregon this year – the Oregon Cabaret Theatre is showcasing some great live performances. Under the new ownership of Valerie Rachelle and Rick Robinson they celebrated ticket sales of up to 37,500 in 2019. The Theatre is open on a Monday night when the OSF Theatre is closed and makes for that perfect Monday evening respite. They also have matinee shows over the weekends. Enjoy dinner, drinks or an interval dessert!
