April through to October here in Southern Oregon and particularly at Abigail’s Bed and Breakfast Inn here in Ashland, Oregon are outdoor months. The local wineries open their doors and encourage wine, food and music lovers from all walks of live to visit and enjoy the amazing weather – cool, slightly windy, sunny smoke free days seems to flow by seemlessly here in Ashland, Oregon. Del Rio Vineyard out in Gold Hill brings back their Sunday Slowdown Days in the backyard of their Wine Tasting Room. It is a wonderful day to get the chance to relax, enjoy the family with friends and a “bring your own” picnic.
As Del Rio quotes: “its the best way to unWINEd”…They encourage guests to bring their own blankets and picnic wicker baskets and to sip on summer in a glass whilst listening to live music. I always recommend a stop at the Rogue Creamery to pick up a favorite local cheese and baguette in Central Point, along with a sweet offering from Lillie Belle gourmet chocolatiers. Pack it all up and head out to add a bottle of wine to your picnic from Del Rio.
A close foursome of Wineries to Abigail’s Bed and Breakfast Inn for a day trip that we can recommend are:
Pebblestone Cellars, Stoneriver Vineyards and Aurora Vines are all located just a short drive away – roughly 7 miles with a recommended stop in Talent at Simple Machine Winery mere 3.7 miles.

New to this season are High Siskiyou Tours “explore nature and the best scenery in the valley”. They do personal tours visiting wineries, Crater Lake, Cannabis Farms, Breweries etc. An old favorite of ours for Wine Tasting are All Aboard Trolley as well as Wine Hopper Tours. June bring the start to Lavender Month here in Southern Oregon Lavender Trail and it all starts with the English Lavender Farm and the dates are between June and July . Lavender festival weekends are busy with live music, arts and craft vendors, wreath making classes as well as great food and drink. In June there is nothing better than to drive out to these beautiful fields of lush purple. Having done it myself I have I cannot stress just how beautiful it is to see the lavender in full bloom. What an amazing experience.
